Thread lifts – also called magic threads – are an aesthetic medicine technique that aims to create tension in the skin to prevent it from looking flaccid, hide small wrinkles, or raise certain parts of the face or body; In addition, it helps generate the production of collagen and elastin, which improves the appearance and support of tissues, and activates microcirculation in the area, increasing collagen synthesis and cell regeneration. 

This type of intervention is performed on an outpatient basis, with a small dose of local anesthesia, quickly and minimally invasive and with an immediate recovery. For this reason, for some years it has become fashionable as an alternative to lifting, which does require entry into an operating room, and whose return to normality takes longer.To achieve the objectives described, surgical filaments are used that are placed under the skin and that are not visible to the naked eye. These threads have their origin in Japan and are used to make internal sutures, since one of their main characteristics is that they are absorbable and biocompatible. As with conventional threads, there are different thicknesses and lengths –depending on the area to be treated, whether it is facial or body–, but they also differ depending on the material they are made of, or their shape.
